Each watch tells a story.
We help it keep going.
Wela Thong is a small, attentive workshop on Sukhumvit offering mechanical service, full overhaul, and careful restoration of fine timepieces.
What We Do
Three levels of care
From a gentle refresh to a complete restoration — each service is adapted to the condition of your watch and what it means to you.
Refresh & Polish
A light service joining gentle cosmetic care with mechanical attention. We clean accessible movement parts, lubricate key points, regulate timing gently, and carefully clean the case and bracelet. A short care note follows. Usually under two weeks.
- Movement cleaning & lubrication
- Timing regulation
- Case & bracelet surface care
- Written care note included
Complete Overhaul
A full service for automatic and hand-wound movements needing deeper attention. Full disassembly, cleaning, and re-oiling of the movement, mainspring renewal where worn, multi-position regulation. Gaskets refreshed, case checked. About three to four weeks.
- Full movement disassembly & cleaning
- Mainspring renewal if worn
- Multi-position regulation
- Gasket refresh & case check
Fine Restoration
A refined restoration uniting movement and finish. The movement is overhauled to a high standard, the case finish renewed with a goldsmith's care, and the dial and hands attended to in keeping with the original look. Each step is discussed and documented. Five to eight weeks.
- Full movement overhaul
- Goldsmith-standard case refinishing
- Dial & hands attended to
- Step-by-step documentation
Why Wela Thong
The workshop behind the work
A few things that shape the way we work and the care we put into each piece.
Attentive diagnostics
Every watch is assessed carefully before any work begins. We share our findings clearly and only proceed with your understanding.
Goldsmith-trained finish
Our team includes craftspeople trained in metal finishing, so surface work receives the same rigour as movement service.
15+ years of mechanical experience
We have been servicing watches across Bangkok since 2009, working with a range of Swiss and Japanese mechanical movements.
Open communication
We document each step and stay in contact throughout. There are no surprises — only clear updates as your watch progresses.
Unhurried approach
Good watchwork takes time. We give each piece the attention it deserves rather than moving through a high volume of work quickly.
Conveniently located
Our workshop is on Sukhumvit Soi 24, straightforward to reach from much of central Bangkok by BTS or taxi.

Common Questions
Things people ask
How do I know which service my watch needs?
We recommend bringing the watch in for a look before committing to a service level. We'll assess it at no charge and share what we find honestly. If you're unsure, the Refresh & Polish is a sensible starting point for a watch that runs but hasn't been serviced in some time.
What types of watches do you work on?
We focus on mechanical and automatic movements — Swiss and Japanese. This includes watches from well-known Swiss houses as well as vintage and mid-range pieces. We do not service digital or quartz-only watches as a general rule, though please ask if you have a specific piece in mind.
How long does a service take?
The Refresh & Polish typically takes under two weeks. A Complete Overhaul runs three to four weeks. Fine Restoration, which involves both movement work and case refinishing, takes five to eight weeks depending on the piece. We'll confirm an expected timeframe when we assess the watch.
Are the prices listed final?
The prices shown are our starting figures. Occasionally a watch requires additional parts or more involved attention than a standard service covers. If that's the case, we discuss it with you before proceeding — nothing extra is done without your agreement.
Can I send my watch by post?
We prefer in-person drop-off when possible, as it allows us to look at the watch together with you. For customers outside Bangkok, postal delivery is possible — please contact us first so we can advise on safe packaging and the process involved.
Do you use original spare parts?
Where original or manufacturer-equivalent parts are available, we use them. For older or less common movements, we source quality compatible parts and always discuss our approach with you before fitting anything.
